About Boondock Events
Boondock Events organises challenge hikes, trail running races and bespoke outdoor events in the UK. Our mission to get more people outside, active and enjoying nature. We place a big emphasis on having fun the outdoors with a professional and safe approach to event delivery.
We have 10+ years experience organising charity challenge events, mountain adventures, guided hikes, adventure races and multi-sport events. The word ‘Boondock’ means remote, rural and with a sense of adventure. That spirit of adventure is at the core of all our events. We organised our first event in 2014 which was an attempt on the UK’s National Three Peaks challenge, since then the Boondock Events team have organised 100s of challenges and experiences in the UK.
The UK has one of the most diverse and varied landscapes in the world, with 15 National Parks, 26 Areas of Outstanding National Beauty (AONBs), over 2500 mountains and everything in between. Being active and outside is essential for your physical and mental well-being along with providing opportunities for fundraisers, personal challenge and exploration. We want to play our part in helping people have life changing and impactful experiences.
Our Team
Fred Newton
Fred sits as Event Manager and Lead Guide at Boondock Events looking after operational planning and H&S. He loves the creative process of bringing new events to life and has a background in adventure sports and in his spare time juggles a young family and ultra-running in the South Downs.
Qualifications: Summer Mountain Leader, FREC3, L3 Safeguarding, DofE Supervisor & Assessor, Enhanced DBS.
Director Avalon Ridler
Avalon is responsible for strategy, business planning and finance at Boondock Events. She holds a management accounting qualification and has a background in finance and AI software. Avalon is a keen hiker and volunteer regularly giving time for the Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust charity.
Qualifications: Day Skipper, Charted Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA), First Aid at Work, Enhanced DBS.
Finance DirectorSupport CrewCoco & Luna
The dynamic duo are often found at some of Boondock’s larger events although they are yet to successfully put up a gazebo. We love dogs, and where possible allow dogs on our events. Please check each event or drop us a line.
Qualifications: Squirrel Pursuit, Food Management.
